Magnum Bender Technical Specification

Magnum Bender, designed in the UK, offers many significant benefits over alternative ‘traditional’ techniques.  Originally designed to produce high quality precision bends in steel and aluminium aircraft components, Magnum Bender is a versatile, high specification forming system, which meets the needs of both the professional and discerning amateur craftsman.

Outstanding Capacity: Magnum bender is capable of bending 1/8” (3mm) thick material up to 6” (150mm) wide. Including 40 Ton/in2 tensile strength 4130N aircraft grade steel - the preferred choice of aircraft manufacturers, racing car chassis builders, motorcycle frame builders, cycle & HPV manufacturers.

Bending Bars:  The range of radiused bending bars enable perfectly formed bends to be made with a radius chosen to suit the material type, thickness and component geometry.  Each bar enables bends up to, and including, 90 degrees to be made and are designed to allow for material ‘spring back’. The bender is supplied with a set of three interchangeable bending bars each with two different bending radii. Bars are supplied hardened and each radius is highly polished. The metric set has radii of 1,2,3,4,5 and 6mm
The imperial set has radii of   1/16”, 3/32”, 1/8”, 5/32”, 3/16” and ¼”

Interchangeable Tooling Plate System:  Magnum Bender’s unique feature.  The tooling plate may be removed, changed and customized to suit the job in hand.

Universal Tooling Plate:   (supplied as standard with the tool) permits a wide range of fixturing options to be made. In addition to the 4 slots, the plate incorporates a row of 5 ultra-high strength rare earth magnets let into the surface of the plate.  This enables even small parts to be positioned accurately and yet still be moved with sensitivity.  Once parts are in position they are held securely by the magnets while the bending bar is located and clamped down.

The Universal Tooling Plate incorporates four 6mm slots that accept the Warco 24 piece clamping kit Item No. 9103. Using this kit, a wide range of precision tooling locations and stops can be created to locate parts accurately. This feature ensures repeatability across a batch of parts.

The machine is supplied with two sets of handles a short pair 300mm long and a long pair 600mm long.

The Magnum Bender has been designed by Paul Prince of Aviation Metalcraft and is manufactured and distributed worldwide under license by Warco
